Sports Day at the EIS

We had a fantastic Sports Day at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on Monday.

We were delighted to welcome James Denny – a member of Team England who has British Championship Gold medals and a Commonwealth Games Silver medal for diving. James spoke to the children about the importance of aspirations and the hard work, dedication and commitment it took to turn those dreams into reality, he then spent the rest of Sports Day encouraging and even competing with them in the events.

Everyone had a wonderful time and no doubt wonderful memories were made. It was very close going into the final events with Team Green having a narrow lead but when the relay scores were calculated it was Team Red who had won the day and were presented with the trophy by James Denny.

A highlight was the Parent Race – where both mums and dads dusted off the cobwebs to show the children  just what fantastic athletes they are! Not to be outdone the staff had a race too with Mr Butterwood just pipping Miss Guest to the finish line.

A super day – thank you to Miss Guest and the sports leaders from the other SMAT schools for organizing it so well and to James Denny and Team England for being such a great ambassador.
