Great Fire of London
Year 1 have been studying the Great Fire of London and today was their theme day.
They found out about the style of houses in the 16oos and made some. But today disaster struck when they discovered that a fire had broken out amongst them and quickly spread. (It appears that the fire may have started in the bakery on Pudding Lane.)
The children were shocked but quickly sprang into action and created a chain of buckets stretching back to the River Thames, these were passed to the front and before long the fire was out. Hurrah!
Year 1 noticed that one house survived – it was further away from the row of other houses – this has helped them come up with some ideas about how to prevent a Great Fire ever happening again.
